Xiaomi is once again trying to teach others who’s boss due to the recent release of a mind-blowing smartphone: the Xiaomi 12T Pro. The Chinese brand seems confident that its new flagship will be sold in huge numbers, and there are plenty of arguments that can support such a claim.
In recent years, companies such as Samsung, Huawei, Motorola, OnePlus, and others have tried to create as big camera sensors as possible. More megapixels (MP) for a camera obviously means more power, and the public doesn’t say ‘no’ if those manufacturers create even more powerful cameras. It’s also true that some people are viewing the situation with an eyebrow lifted, as they consider that very powerful cameras aren’t exactly needed for a smartphone. But Xiaomi has just raised the stakes even higher than before.
200MP for the main camera setup
For the new Xiaomi 12T Pro that was released a few days ago, the Chinese firm has built an impressive 200MP camera on the device’s rear, something that you certainly don’t hear every day. Except for the wide snapper of 200MP, the main triple camera setup also features an 8MP ultrawide sensor and a 2MP macro lens. While we keep looking at the specs revealed by GSMArena, we can also see some powerful video recording capabilities for the main camera setup of the Xiaomi 12T Pro: up to 8K@24fps quality.
The selfie camera of the new phone from Xiaomi is where things could have been improved a bit. The front snapper reaches 20MP, which is more than enough, but it only records video in Full HD. From a flagship phone released in 2022, it would be reasonable to see a front camera capable of recording 4K videos.
You’ll see the photos and videos that the Xiaomi 12T Pro is able to make on its 6.67-inches AMOLED display. The screen is equipped with a 120Hz refresh rate and protection coming from the Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
Lots of gigabytes for the RAM memory
The RAM and storage options of the Xiaomi 12T Pro are probably more than you could need from a smartphone. The gadget comes in two versions of storage space (128GB and 256GB) and two versions of RAM: 8GB and 12GB.
When it comes to performance, Xiaomi 12T Pro is also doing great – it’s equipped with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset of 4nm, and it comes along with Android 12 and MIUI 13 out of the box.
No water resistance
Yes, you’ve read that right! The new Xiaomi 12T Pro powerhouse doesn’t feature water resistance, a feature that has surely become a ‘must’ for top phones. The gadget still offers an IP53-rated resistance to dust and splashes. But if you think you can’t live without serious water resistance, or you have the hobby of taking the smartphone for a swim with you, it’s not recommended to buy this phone, although the rest of the specs are mesmerizing.
The price of the Xiaomi 12T Pro revolves around 800 euros, which means that buying this phone will be a great deal if you also want to keep some money in your account.
