When you say ‘Super Mario,’ the first thing that comes to mind is a dwarf plumber who runs around to collect mushrooms and jump over obstacles and on enemies’ heads. The iconic video game character is now reimagined in a new remake of the classic Super Mario game that came out in the ’80s. Using the impressive tech magic of the Unreal Engine, a lifelong Nintendo fan had the idea of bringing Super Mario Remake ‘to life,’ while getting the actor Christopher Michael Pratt (aka Chris Pratt) in the shoes of Mario.
In the remake, you’ll get to see Super Mario as never before. The new game still features the well-known recipe of making Mario travel through pipes, collect coins, grow taller after eating the mushroom, break stuff, and so on. However, the graphics are light-years better this time. It’s like you’re watching a movie after the classic Super Mario game for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) console.
Jack Black also joins the squad
As you’ve probably already guessed, the remake of Super Mario is not a 2D environment. You can admire the action in three dimensions as Mario has to make his way through all those obstacles by jumping over pits, defeating enemies, and so on. There are even new levels to face, but probably the biggest challenge remains to save the Princess after defeating the terrible Bowser.
Feel free to feast your eyes on the new trailer for Super Mario Remake starring Chris Pratt below:
“I am a life long Nintendo fan, and I’m very excited for the Super Mario animated movie from Illumination and Nintendo! So, I decided to make some sort of fan project while we’re all waiting for a trailer. But, then I started to wonder what it would look like if Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black, and Keegan-Michael Key, were actually these characters in a realistic mushroom Kingdom. That seemed like an incredibly fun idea, and that’s why I’m attempting to make this game. With zero game development experience, I’m learning unreal engine from scratch and picking up any other skills that I can along the way, in an effort to make this a legitimately great action game!”
Chris Pratt was born in 1979 in Virginia (Minnesota, USA), and he became famous for his role as Andy Dwyer during the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation. Chris has been married to Katherine Schwarzenegger since 2019, his second wife after his marriage with Anna Faris failed. Chris and Anna divorced in 2018.
Surely most hardcore gamers nowadays wouldn’t conceive of spending too much time playing a game like the classic Super Mario for NES. But even so, that game was the bee’s knees back in the day! There was no trace of high-end graphics in those times, as most games for the NES console were occupying only less than half a megabyte (MB) of memory.
