After using a browser on your mobile device for a while, you may notice that it’s not as fast as it used to be when you first installed it. If you don’t have a good connection speed loading can take even longer, it can be quite annoying as we are not use to waiting more than 1-2 seconds for a website to load.
Things can get even worse, when you try to watch a movie, but you see only the loading indicator for several seconds. However, today we’re going to give you a few tips and tricks on how to speed up the browser on your mobile device.
Clear cache and website data
The cache is one of the features that will slow down the speed of the browser that you run on your mobile device. This is because the cache remembers some elements, pages and pieces that you’ve visited in the past. Actually, the cache is meant to speed up the browser, but sometimes, there is too much cache saved and it tends to slow down your browser.
This is the reason why you will need to clear the cache every once in a while, by opening the browser and hitting the menu button select Settings->Privacy->Clear Cache.
As soon as you do this, all the cache will be cleared and you’ll notice that the performance will drop a bit until you start loading your regular websites, as soon as you visit the you’ll see that those websites will load way faster than before.
In the same Privacy menu you will be able to clear the cookies and history, which will bring a boost to the browser’s performance.
HINT: This process should be similar to all mobile browsers.
Disable the JavaScript
One of the best ways to speed up the browser from your mobile device is by disabling the JavaScript. This is mainly because of the cache, history and cookies. If you disable the JavaScript, you will notice websites are no longer so “full of life”, as all the videos and scripts that run via the JavaScript will be disabled. However, if you only care about speed, then we suggest you to turn off the JavaScript.
Keep in mind that this doesn’t need to be a permanent solution and you can disable it only temporarily, if you want the browser to function at a higher speed. Whenever you decide to see all content from a website, just enable the JavaScript. Keep in mind that once you enable JavaScript, you will notice the lag will come back.
In order to disable JavaScript on your mobile device, open the browser and tap on the menu icon (a three-dotted button) located in the top right side and select Settings->Advanced and disable the “Enable JavaScript” option. After that, you will need to restart the browser and you’re done. To enable it again, tap on the menu button and select Settings->Advanced and enable back the “Enable JavaScript” option.
Keep in mind that this works only with the native browser from your mobile device.
Browsers
Most of us don’t like the default browser that mobile operating systems come with. This is why a lot of users ditch the default browser and install the one they found in the App Store. We agree that the browser that comes on your tablet or smartphone is not always the best one, especially when there are other better options such as: Google Chrome, Opera or Firefox.
Choose one of the three browsers we’ve told you about and we’re pretty sure that after a few days, you will know which one you want to keep.
Pop-ups
Pop-ups are one of the main reasons your browser will slow down. They are not only annoying because they pop-up out of the blue, but they also eat a lot of RAM, processing speed and use unnecessary data.
However, you can disable the pop-ups from your Chrome browser. To do this, tap on the menu button, select Settings->Advanced->Content Settings and turn off the Pop-Ups.
Cookies
Keep in mind that when you clear the cookies, your browser does not stop collecting them. Cookies are useful, but they are not necessary to surf the internet. You can disable the cookies very easily by opening the Chrome browser, then tapping on the menu button from the top right side and selecting Settings->Advanced->Content Settings and disabling the Cookies.
Conclusion
Speed is very important nowadays there are not many people who will want to waste time by waiting for a webpage to load. Hopefully, by using the tips and tricks that we’ve just mentioned above, you will notice that your browser’s speed will significantly increase.
