You might have been excited about the arrival of the Fairphone 4 model that occurred back in October 2021. The phone features some nice specs for its time, such as a main camera sensor of 48MP, 6 to 8GB of RAM, and more. It’s surely not the kind of phone that can compete with the latest models from Apple or Samsung, but it is still capable enough to run basic tasks, such as browsing, social media, and more.
Just as its name suggests, we can say that Fairphone 4 was indeed a fair phone. Therefore, if you are a fan of the Fairphone 4, surely you’ll be thrilled by what its successor has in store for the world. Thanks to mysmartprice.com, we now know that the Fairphone 5 model has been spotted on Geekbeench, which means that we can already learn a bit about the device’s specs.
Fairphone 5 will sport Android 13 out of the box
Fairphone is preparing to launch the Fairphone 5. The Geekbench benchmark database revealed the upcoming Fairphone FP5, which scored 1131 points in the single-core round and 2985 points in the multi-core round. The upcoming Fairphone 5 will be equipped with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, codename lahaina, with a 1.71GHz peak frequency. It will have an Adreno 643 GPU for graphics tasks, possibly the Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G. This means that the guys from Fairphone have not forgotten about those who are into gaming, which is great.
The Fairphone 5 will come pre-loaded with the latest Android version, meaning Android 13, which means that the upgrade to the forthcoming Android 14 should be done without a fuss. The device will also come with a 5-year warranty.
The Geekbench listing also confirms that the Fairphone 5 will feature 8GB of RAM, which is more than enough for a smartphone. There really is no objective reason to require more RAM memory for a phone unless you plan to regularly connect a monitor and a physical keyboard to it.
Fairphone has recently updated its Fariphone 3 to Android 13 and plans to offer the same warranty for the upcoming Fairphone 5. However, it would be absurd for the latest Fairphone model to miss the Android 14 update, although we still have to wait until the fall for Google’s latest mobile operating system update to occur.
Google has already released the Android 14 update in non-final form, but those willing to grab the final version will have to wait a few weeks or months more. The update should arrive OTA for those smartphones that are eligible for the upgrade, and our fair guess is that Google Pixel phones will be in the first row.
