‘Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO’ is Bandai Namco’s Next Budokai Tenkaichi Game – Watch Trailer NOW

Bandai Namco is preparing to revive the legendary ‘Budokai Tenkaichi’ series of Dragon Ball fighting games with the upcoming ‘Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO’ game. A new trailer just dropped, and if you’re at least a bit interested in the Dragon Ball Super anime and manga, surely you’ll be delighted by what you can see.

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 launched 16 years ago for PlayStation 2 and Wii. That surely sounds like a huge amount of time, but even so, it’s great to find out that the series will be revived. The gaming world has much more powerful resources now to create highly immersive and graphically appealing games, and that will certainly be the case for ‘Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO.’

When will ‘Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO’ launch?

All we know at this point about ‘Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO’ apart from what we can see in the trailer, is that the game is “coming soon,” whatever that means. We’ll most probably see the upcoming game running on consoles and PCs in 2024, but until that point, let’s see the long-awaited official footage:

As we can easily see, ‘Sparking! ZERO’ will add strong emphasis on Dragon Ball Super elements, as it was easy to predict. Back in 2007 when Budokai Tenkaichi 3 was released, there was no trace of Dragon Ball Super, but the release of the anime 8 years later, in 2015, opened the door for game developers to come up with new content.

We can see Goku sparring with Vegeta in the trailer, and both of the two Saiyans started charging up all the way to Super Saiyan Blue level at some point. The most iconic transformation in Dragon Ball Super will, therefore, be available in Bandai Namco’s upcoming game as well. On the other hand, Frieza seems to be up for no good once again, as he will most probably use his ‘Golden’ form against the two beloved Saiyans, Goku and Vegeta.

Seeing Broly in the trailer also can’t surprise us, as the character has kept receiving credit since the 2018 movie ‘Dragon Ball Super: Broly’ was released. Broly appeared in the manga and even in the next movie of the franchise, which is known as ‘Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero,’ a film that came out last year. For those unaware, Broly is an unusually powerful Saiyan who got exiled to another planet by King Vegeta when he was a baby just because his power level was above the one of Prince Vegeta. After Broly became an adult, he tried to seek vengeance on Vegeta for the deeds of his father, King Vegeta.

We can hope to see ‘Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO’ running on as many platforms as possible, but it will definitely be available for the PC, considering that there’s already an official Steam page for the game.
