Sony has been quite active in the smartphone field in 2022, and it’s fair to say that the Xperia 5 IV and the Xperia 1 IV models easily take the cake. 2023 is practically around the corner, as there are less than two months left until the new year starts. We have some pretty compelling reasons to believe that Sony will be even more diligent in 2023 when it comes to the smartphone area.
NOTEBOOKCHECK speaks about a new rumor indicating that Sony will bring not one, not two, not three, but five new Xperia phones in 2023! There are plenty of reasons to be excited, as the Japanese tech giant is expected to burn the candle at both ends next year by having at least one of the future phones equipped with a fingerprint scanner that will be mounted inside the display itself.
Setting the stage for Xperia 1 V and Xperia Ace IV
Xperia 1 V and Xperia Ace IV are two of the future phones that Sony might be preparing for the next year. We can expect flagship features from both of the hypothetical models. Xperia Ace IV will likely be a compact phone, meaning that it will have some solid features in relatively small dimensions. Surely that’s a recipe that many people would love, as not everybody is a fan of huge displays. The standard Samsung Galaxy S22, which is the flagship of the South Korean giant for the current year, is a good example that compact phones can be very successful. The device’s display measures only 6.1 inches.
As for Xperia 1 V, this is the possible model that’s expected to carry the in-display fingerprint scanner. Placing the scanner in such an area can surely be a great idea.
The five upcoming Sony Xperia phones are also likely to be sporting three different Snapdragon processors. This means that some of the future devices might be using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, as well as the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1. The news can’t possibly leave us unmoved, as Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is currently the most powerful processor made by Qualcomm. It’s great to see that the San Diego-based corporation is willing to push the boundaries even more.
Speaking of boundaries, we can take a good look at what the Xperia 1 IV is capable of, as that’s likely the best smartphone that Sony has released in 2022. Then, we can have an even better idea of what the future Sony Xperia devices can offer, meaning that they should at least not be inferior. Xperia 1 IV is flaunting 12GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, an OLED display of 120Hz of refresh rate and 6.5 inches, a 5,000mAh battery, Android 12 out of the box, and more.
Of course, in the end, it’s always a good idea not to count your chickens before they hatch. Sony releasing five new Xperia smartphones in 2023 is mostly a rumor, which means that only time will tell for sure what’s true or not.
